Girls Netball Team- Division

Last week the Girls Netball team travelled to Springers to play in the Division Championships after winning our District. We played 3 games all being challenging and putting us through our paces as a team.

Our first game against Patterson Lakes PS was super tough and we went down 6-11 – we started to play better in second half but it we were to many goals behind to get close to them. As it turned out this team was to be the best team in the competition, and they went on to finish first overall. A good effort by the girls to only go down by 5 goals.

Our second game against Caulfield- Loyd st PS we lost 1-12 which was disappointing, but the girls were very humble in defeat.

Our third and last game against Mentone Girls Grammar we played for fun as both ourselves and Mentone hadn’t won a game, so it was more of a friendly game. It ended in a DRAW which was a good result for both teams. Well done girls.

Our standout player for the day was Maddie H who played GA and C and dominated in most of the games.

Special cheer to all our girls:

Zoe Northey, Nicola H, Maddie H, Kirsten C, Alex D, Helena P, Cherry B, Issy H, Ava Tn and Ava B.

Thank you to all the parents who came to support on the day and a special mention to Amanda Hough who was our scorer and one of the drivers for the day too.

 Olympics In PE

Well, the Paris Olympics is upon us, and we are getting into the Olympic spirit in PE and Sport classes.

At the moment all the year 3 classes are involved in an intra class Olympic competition where they compete in a variety of athletic events- high jump, discus, long jump, shot put, 1500m race, triple jump and some fun sprints. The junior classes prep-year 2 are learning athletic skills like jumping, throwing, sprinting and practicing being a super athlete!

The year 4 students are preparing to compete at the House Athletics carnival for the first time and the year 5/6 students are preparing to host and run the Whole School mini-Olympics by running all the activities. The whole school event will be on Friday 9 August which involves the whole staff and should be a great fun day for everyone.

In Friday sport we are having our own Intra House competition in Athletics with all students competing for House Champion and overall House winner.

Go AUSSIES for GOLD!!
