Year One

History in Year One: Adventures Through Time

We have been having so much fun in Year One as we have been delving into our history unit of inquiry looking at activities and experiences change over time.

Each lesson we have buckled up, and travelled back in time to compare life from the past to how we live now. Before we could go on our time travelling journeys, we made our own time travelling suitcases, decorating them with all the places we have travelled to or would like to visit.

Each lesson began with some magic, then before we knew it, we were transported back in time looking at artefacts relating to daily life, school, games and hobbies, toys, communication and transport. Our suitcases are filling up with our time travelling passports, tickets, photos and other knick-knacks we have collected during our travels.

We were visited by a special expert, Gordon the crossing supervisor who came to share his experiences of growing up. We even spent time learning about history through our buddies' historical narratives.
