WELCOME TERM 3

Welcome back to the start of Term 3! We hope you all had a restful and enjoyable break and are now ready to dive back into the exciting world of learning and discovery. 

The College Resource Library is thrilled to reopen its doors to our vibrant community, and we have a range of new resources and programs lined up to enhance the experience of all library users. 

For our students, we have curated a fresh collection of books that span various genres and interests, ensuring there’s something captivating for every reader. We are also planning some very exciting events and activities coming up next month, including our Book Week Spectacular ‘BOOKTACULAR!’ We are expecting visiting authors and presenters to make Book Week super special for our students. Keep an eye out for our upcoming lunchtime activities including Chess Club, Creators Club and our new Student Book Club, coming very soon!

THE LIBRARY CELEBRATES THE PARIS OLYMPICS

The Olympic countdown is on, and the college library will be celebrating the Paris Olympics with a variety of engaging activities and resources! Students can explore a spotlight on Paris book features and delve into the rich history of the Olympic Games through our dedicated fact wall. We will showcase a medal tally to keep everyone updated on the latest achievements, and our athlete book displays will highlight inspiring stories. Our LMERC story time books will feature texts that encompass the varied backgrounds and cultures of the games to share with our students. 

Finally, we will have live TV broadcasts of the events for everyone to enjoy from the opening to the closing ceremony. Join us in the library to celebrate this global sporting event and immerse yourself in the spirit of the Games!

BOOKTACULAR (BOOK WEEK) POETRY COMPETITION

The library will be running a poetry competition in the lead up to Book Week celebrations.

● We are asking students from Prep to Year 12 to take part in writing a “Reading is Magic” themed piece.

● The competition winner will have the opportunity to read their poetry at the official BOOKTACULAR opening on August 26th.

● Interested students are to visit the Library to collect their entry form.

NAIDOC WEEK - IN THE LIBRARY

The College Resource Library took some time over the last few weeks to celebrate NAIDOC Week and its themes. As the week-long celebration usually falls within our Term 2 break, the college library decided to run special activities and Storytime sessions for students. Creators Club featured an Indigenous art activity, while book displays highlighted some significant Indigenous texts and authors. Creators Club - leaf art.
