Dear Parents,
This year for Book Week we have planned another fun-filled Better Buddies/Book Week Day/Grandparent visit on Friday 23 August. Your child can come dressed as their favourite book week character or come dressed in line with this year’s theme, ‘Reading is Magic.’
The outline of the day will be:
8:35 Book Fair held in the Hall until 3:30. Grandparents and parents are welcome to purchase books throughout the day. The more books purchased the more points our school will earn. Students are welcome to visit the Book Fair with their parent before or after school only.
9:00-9:30 Book Parade - Grandparents and parents are welcome to view the Parade which will be held on the basketball court, from the balcony or bottom yard.
9:30-10:00 Grandparents only (unless there are mobility issues, then a parent can assist) are promptly invited to visit their grandchildren's designated ‘Family Grouping' class to share a favourite book. (Students will know the day before which class they will be in, so be sure to check and ask your child the night before, which class they will be found in). Posters will also be in the foyer to assist with this. We would love families to bring a plate of food to share for this morning tea and leave them in the hall.
All adults must sign in before entering any classrooms to ensure Child Safety.
If parents are not required for support, they are asked to leave the classroom and enjoy some time together in the Parish Hall.
Due to privacy regulations photos are permitted of your child/children only on this day.
10:00-11:00 Grandparents and parents are invited to morning tea hosted by PIC in the Hall. Parents and Grandparents can browse through the Book Fair and if they like, can purchase books that will be on display in the Hall. Please bring a plate of food to share with the grandparents and leave them in the hall.
On Thursday, 22 August or Friday 23 August the students will engage in a fun story telling session with Kym Lardner, a well-known Australian children’s author and illustrator. He will be selling his own books and signing them during his visit if families are interested, but you are under no obligation to purchase books. If you have any of his books at home, feel free to bring them in for Kym to sign.
The students will be immersed in fun Book Week activities for the rest of the day which will finish with an Assembly (weather permitting) hosted by the Creative Arts SAT Team.
