Basketball - Western Ranges Division Precursor:

On Wednesday 31st August, our senior boys’ basketball headed to Altona for the Western Ranges Division finals.  Although confident of being competitive, with the two basketball scholarship schools in our division, we were also realistic.

Our first game was against Western Heights, who boasted 8 VC students to our one.  The game went accordingly, with the boys losing by 30+ points.  In the next two match, against Hoopers Crossing SC and Lakeview Senior College, with a greater level playing field, the boys rallied, showing great teamwork and skills under pressure.  We defeated Hoopers by 5 points and lost to Lakeview by 5 (in this game we were up by 8 points with 5 mins to play).

Players who attended (from left to right):

Jack B (Captain), Billy H (Year 10), Aleks B, Lucas C, Simon A, Lincoln B, Jahn W, Dallas H, and Jack R.

(Players in action during the pool games)

Thank you to Anne Maree for her support during the day.  Great sportsmanship, respect and dedication shown by everyone involved.  It has been a pleasure to see our students continue develop into fine young men, representing our college in such a positive way.

Senior Girls Netball

On Tuesday 30 July the Senior Girls Netball team attended the regional finals at Altona Sports Precinct having dominated the divisional competition last term. At Regional Finals the team faced a significantly stronger opposition with several schools with elite sports programs in attendance. In their first match of the day they came up against Western Heights College who are coached by an ex Australian Player and had a squad of 15. Our team were undaunted and took them on for the full four quarters, emerging victorious by a goal. The team's defenders Lucy, Grace and Josie pulled of a series of match saving intercepts, our mid-courters in Liv, Izzy and Keeley played with precision and flare and our shooting duo of Charlie and Hayley were cool and accurate under pressure.

The team then faced the struggle of playing all their pool games back-to-back and in spite of exhaustion from our squad of 8 they won all pool matches and proceeded to the final against Maribyrnong Sports Academy. The girls lost the final in a drama filled match where we lost a player to injury and their fatigue began to show. However, each of our players should hold their head high and be proud of their accomplishments. With the majority of our team being year 11s we are so excited and optimistic for what the team can achieve in 2025!

Well done girls!

Intermediate Boys Netball

In a phenomenal achievement, our Intermediate Boys netball team have become Western Metropolitan Regional Champions and will go on to represent our College at the State Championships later this month.

What is even more incredible about this, is that this is largely the same group of boys that achieved this last year in their Junior Boys era.

They played with grit, skill, finesse and sportsmanship and were amazing representatives of themselves and our College.

A huge congratulations to them all and good luck for State finals!
