Performing Arts

This term the students have been learning about new dance styles. The grade 5 and 6 students have been learning about 'Flash Mobs', the grade 3 and 4 students have been learning about 'Line Dancing' and the grade 1 and 2 students have been learning about 'Barn Dancing'. The prep students have been learning how to move their bodies to a retelling of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'. Whilst all this new learning in happening, the students have continued to practise their concert dances, ready to perform on stage. I am very proud of everyone with their dedication to learn and practise.

This term students have started learning all about the Olympics. Some of the signs we know so far are:  Olympic Games, Paris, France, fire and flame. We have discussed the importance of the Olympic Flame and Torch relay. Over the next few weeks we will learn the signs for lots of different Olympic Sports. Preps this week have focussed on the Olympic rings and colours. Grade 1 and 2 have looked into the Olympic Torch. Our senior grades have looked into many of the different sports and disciplines that feature in the games. All grades also investigated Paralympics and Deaflympics.

Veggie Garden

Mrs H took advantage of our sunny Friday and 3/4C and Prep L got to take a trip to our Veggie Garden. The 3/4's planted cauliflowers, brocoli, peas and carrots as well as some herbs. Prep L helped Mrs H set up our new "Worm Cafe." Children all took turns in putting some worm bedding into the tray and then our worms on top. Marlee got to put the worm blanket on top to keep them cosy, and Penny put the lid on. We look forward to introducing our scrap buckets into classrooms to collect fruit scraps to feed our new wriggly friends!
