SCHOOL OF WONDER
Wow, we are excited to share with you what has been happening in the School of Wonder the past fortnight. A highlight for me - how incredible did our Foundation students look at their 100 days of school celebration!?
A big thank you to our beautiful families and special friends for being a part of this day for our little ones. The parade was phenomenal. Congratulations to our Foundation staff Glenice, Kasi, Nikea, Mia and Tina for a successful day.
A quick reminder we are still in the heart of winter which means flus and bad colds are still amongst us in the college. If children are displaying signs of sickness, we please ask students to remain at home for the health and safety of those around us. Thank you for your understanding.

SOW Assembly
Week 3 in the School of Wonder kicked off with an assembly which was ran by 1/2SS – a huge congratulations to the students who spoke bravely in front of parents/carers to let them know what has been happening in SOW and what’s coming up for Term 3. The students also put on some great singing performances of Our Father and Ubuntu by Andrew Chin.
School Leader Kara shared some lovely feedback about the students from the College’s recent events – the Stage 2B Opening and Blessing Ceremony as well as the Feast Day Mass and Grandparents Day – where people noticed how well-behaved the students were. Well done to the SOW students for being such incredible role models to each other as well as the rest of the College.
The students also heard from Community Action Team Member Owen who told them how they can become an Eco Warrior – someone who can be rostered on to be actively involved in cleaning up areas of the College grounds. It’s great to see the CAT engaging with the younger students who were enthusiastic about becoming Eco Warriors!

100 Days of School
𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝘂𝗻! 😃🎈
We had a very exciting and fun-filled day on Wednesday 7 August when we celebrated being at St Anne’s College for 100 days. We all came dressed up in the theme ‘100’. We had a parade in front of our parents and friends and all the SOW children. It was exciting.
The crowd was also treated to a slideshow of photos showing their school journey so far. Older SOW children interviewed the foundation students, asking them ...
- 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘧𝘢𝘷𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘴𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘭 𝘴𝘰 𝘧𝘢𝘳?
- 𝘏𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘴?
- 𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰𝘥𝘢𝘺?
Then we wrote about being older, made a special crown, made a cake and made a 100 necklace. Our photos are going to be in the ‘Shepp News’ too!
Athletics
We are looking forward to Athletics Day on Thursday. We will try our best at each event and cheer each other on.
Buddies
Spending time with our buddies is one of our favourite things to do at St Anne’s. They helped us when we went to church in week 2 and showed us how to sit respectfully.
We created artwork together for the Olympic & Paralympic Australian team who are competing in Paris! It was fun when we did the hurdles, sprints and ball activities. Our buddies help us get better at learning new tasks.
Year 1/2
A watery adventure
Planning, drafting, conferencing, and publishing have been a focus in writing.
The children have been eagerly writing books for this year's Goulburn Valley Water "Water Week" competition based on an adventure throughout the natural water cycle.
High-frequency words
High-frequency words are words that appear often in written and spoken language. These words rely on hearing, recording sounds, and memory. The children have engaged in games with a focus on writing high frequency words accurately.
Year 3/4
With our Athletics Day fast approaching, students have been busily practicing the various athletics disciplines to prepare for the day. The Years 3/4 students got out on the field recently, taking inspiration from some of our Olympic athletes, and put their skills to the test in high jump, shot put, triple jump and more.
We can’t wait to see the students’ donning their house colours and competing in the Athletics Day after getting such fantastic practice in!
Mathematics
In Mathematics, children have been using the Olympics as their focus for their data investigation unit. Children have looked at the medal count for the many different countries and have come up with a research question, collected data, and graphed it.
Children have also been using cards to play different Mathematical games as part of their fluency activity. These games aim to improve the speed and accuracy with which children can perform basic mathematical operations and solve problems.
GV Water Week Competition:
The Year 3/4 children have been writing and illustrating a story based on a watery adventure for Goulburn Valley Water's "Water Week" which happens in October.
Children have worked hard to create a narrative based on the urban or natural water cycle, floods, drought or what happens after we flush. The winning story will be provided to Kindergartens within the Goulburn Valley.
Inquiry
In inquiry, children have been working hard to use their skills of collaboration. Children are inquiring about how the use of natural resources impacts the natural environment. The children shared their ideas about what causes pollution and worked together to create a mind map.
STEM
In our recent STEM lessons, students have been diving into the fascinating world of photography using their iPads. They've been learning how to capture the perfect image by exploring various techniques, including framing, focus, and lighting. It's been wonderful to see their creativity and enthusiasm as they discover the art of photography. I encourage you to ask your child to share their favourite photos and the stories behind them!

Arriving at school
Please support our staff, and remember that drop off for children is from 8:30am. This is when staff are on duty. Prior to this any staff onsite are preparing for the day ahead, duty of care requirements mean children onsite require supervision and doing this takes staff away from their important preparation time.
