From the Principal
Benvenuto - Welcome
Dear Parents and Carers,
THE JOY OF CELEBRATION
It was a week for dress ups and celebrations across the college. Today our School of Wonder and School of Innovation students came with a touch of green and gold on to celebrate the Olympic Games. There was a great surprise when the educators came dressed as athletes. On Wednesday our Foundation students celebrated 100 days of their school life. In acknowledging the 100 milestone, there were many students hobbling around on walking sticks and growing beards overnight! And at the other end of the scale – our very first Year 12 cohort celebrated 50 days of countdown to their final days of secondary schooling. Staff and students wore their PJs to school and reflected on the enormity of the next 50 days. We wish them all the best as they prepare for final assessments and for some, external exams.
BUILDING PROGRESS
Our next building stage is really beginning to take shape, with walls going in you can now get a sense of the space. The building is on track for completion for us to be able to begin classes in 2025. We are awaiting final word from Catholic Capital Grants to continue the planning and progress for the new stage which we recently gained the funding for from the State Government - read more about this below.
ICAS COMPETITIONS
At St Anne’s College we value opportunities for individuals to take up the challenge and extend themselves in their learning. In line with this, some of our students have nominated themselves to take part in a variety of ICAS competitions which will be held next week. I wish these students all the best of luck and congratulate them for taking up the challenge of participating in ICAS.
ATHLETICS SPORTS
We are looking forward to our upcoming College Athletics Day next week on August 15 at McEwen Reserve, Shepparton. It’s always so enjoyable seeing the students take part in this annual event. I would like to encourage all students to attend and participate to support your house. You can find further information and details about the event in the ‘Upcoming College Events’ section of this il giornale.
We welcome parents to come along to McEwen Reserve to support your child. We kindly ask that you follow our child safe processes and sign in at the sign in table prior to heading out to the oval spaces to watch the events.
BEAUT BLOKES BINGO & BBQ
We are also looking forward to the chance to celebrate the ‘Beaut Blokes’ in our students’ lives with an event to recognise Father’s Day. The event will be held at the College from 5.30-7pm on Wednesday 28 August with a fun night of music bingo. We encourage all the beaut blokes to RSVP to this event - you can find the details on how to do so in the ‘Upcoming College Events’ section of this il giornale.
BOOK WEEK
Another exciting event that is coming up on our calendar is the very much anticipated Book Week Dress Up Day on Thursday 22 August. It brings so much joy to see all of the students dressed up in their various favourite book characters and we cannot wait to see what everyone comes as this year.
FUNDING ANNOUNCEMENT
It was with great excitement that we received some fantastic news for the growth of our College from the Victorian Government recently. We learned that we are going to receive $3.6 million in grant funding which will be utilised for further upgrades to our college campus. The funding will be used for the next stage of the College’s Masterplan which will include seven general learning areas, learning collaboration zone, staff workspaces and associated areas. A big thank you to the Victorian Government for this funding that will help us continue to grow and spread joy.
