Friday - Yr 2 & Yr 1
OVERDUE BOOKS - We have a number of students who have overdue books. Please ask your children to look for library books at home and return them as soon as possible.
LIBRARY BAGS - Only students who have a library bag can borrow books to take home. These bags need to be able to protect the books as they are transported home and returned.
LOST OR DAMAGED BOOKS - In the unfortunate event that a book is lost or damaged please let me know straight away.
Book Week this year is in Term 3 Week 5.
On Friday 23rd August we will combine our Grandparents Day with our Book Week parade. The Book Fair will be operating in the library all day, only closing for the book parade. Books may be purchased to take home or please consider donating a book to the library. Payment can be made using cash or eft. Please be patient as we do get very busy, which is excellent.
Please come up and see the new lay out with our wonderful new furniture. It it far more open and bright. Many thanks to the P&F for funding the new furniture.
Remember costumes for the parade are not meant to be elaborate or expensive. Help the children to what they have a home that they can use. A reminder that as it is Book Week costumes need to reflect a book.
The plan for the day is-
9.30-10.45 am Open Classrooms
10.45-11.15 Morning tea - please bring your cuppa and snacks to picnic with your children
11.15 Book Parade in the quad
Some students have asked if they can bring 'props' for their costume. These include things such as golf club, fishing rod etc. These can be brought in, however they must be kept in the classroom and only be used in the actual parade, after which they will need to be returned to the classroom. Students will also need to remember to wear their school hats (caps may only be worn in the parade as part of a costume) and closed in shoes. If they have footwear such as sandals or soccer boots, then they can bring these to change into for the parade and then change out of afterwards. Thank you for your understanding.
If your child does not want to dress up that is perfectly fine. They can come in their normal Friday uniform! They will still have lots of fun I am sure.
We look forward to a wonderful day!

Teachers often get asked why is it important that children read physical books, after all they spend time reading online so surely that is enough. I often get asked how relevant libraries are in this modern world. There is a great deal of research taking place as our children live in a world where information is so quickly accessible via the internet, yet literacy skills are either plateauing or falling. Below is an infographic showing the results of an OECD study into the impact of reading books in paper form, in digital form and not reading at all. The results are similar to many other studies. They show that reading in any form, but especially print books, has a positive impact in children's learning outcomes. The earlier our children start to enjoy books the better their long term success.
