Book Week, Grandparents Day/Open Classrooms

Children's Book Council of Australia Book Week 2024 - Friday 23rd August.  Right across Australia, people everywhere will be celebrating the joy of reading and the very best of Australian authors and illustrators, plus, the Children’s Book Council of Australia will announce the Books of the Year for each of the six different categories.

At St Mary's, in conjunction with our Book Fair in the Library and Book Parade, Grandparents, (families & special friends) are invited to visit classrooms, bring a picnic morning tea to have with the children and enjoy the Parade.

I will be looking forward to seeing all the photos and hearing about the fun day as I will be away attending the Term 3 Principals Meeting.

Feast of the Assumption

On August 15th, we celebrate the Feast of the Assumption, where we honour Mary the mother of Jesus, who was assumed body and soul into heaven.

The Feast of the Assumption is a Holy Day of Obligation and I thank the Mini Vinnies students who represented our school at the Mass on Thursday in the OLA Chapel. Next year I look forward to a whole school Mass in the Cathedral to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption.
