Australian Mathematics Competition
Next week selected high ability students in Years 3-6 will take place in the Australian Maths Trust Competition.
First run in 1978, the Australian Mathematics Competition is Australia’s longest running, largest and most well-known maths competition for school students.
The AMC contains unique problems designed each year by leading educators and academics to challenge and extend your students’ problem-solving skills.
If your child is selected for this competition, you will receive some information via Compass by the end of the week, with the competition being run late next week.
We congratulate all participants on being selected and wish them all the very best in their endeavours.
We look forward to sharing results with our school community later in the year.
BOOK WEEK
Book Week will be celebrated in Week six this term. As we know, it is a very busy term with the concert and the Preps celebrating 100 days of school, and these events require lots of planning and dressing up. Due to this, we will not be holding a Book Week Dress-Up Day. Students will not require a Book Week costume for this week. Instead, we will be running lots of other fun events during the week to celebrate Book Week.
One of the activities we will be holding is a free second hand book grab where students can come along and choose a book that has been donated by the school library or families. If your family has any books you would like to donate, please drop these into the front office.
NATIONAL SCIENCE WEEK
The school theme for National Science Week in 2024 is Species Survival - More than just sustainability. The theme aims to highlight the importance of science and innovation in ensuring the survival and thriving of different species in an ever-changing world.
Thank you to Ms. Middlin and Mr Smith who have been busy preparing a menu of lunch time activities for students to be involved in throughout the week, this will be communicated to parents and students soon.
