From the Year 2 Classroom
Its hard to believe we are in week 5 already!
We are well and truly involved in lots of great learning!
We have just wrapped up our inquiry on the Olympics and we are moving into our Family History.
In Reading and Writing we have also just finished our unit on poetry. The children have published all their favourite pieces including Haiku poems, free verse, cinquain, one and two word poems and our class poem. They are looking forward to the poetry slam that will happen in book week next week. We are now moving onto Narratives, looking at different reading skills, such as summarising, inferring, setting the scene and describing characters. We are looking closely at a narrative structure of the beginning, middle and end.
In Maths we have been learning about multiplication and are now moving onto division. We have looked at arrays, groups of, sharing and worded problems. We will also be tuning into skip counting by 2's, 5's, 10's and 3's, starting at different starting points. If you would like to practice at home that would be fantastic. The children have been enjoying their Math tune ins over the last few weeks.
A big congratulations to our week 4 and 5 award winners! You should be very proud of your learning.
