From the Year Prep Classroom

In Reading we have been learning about different poetic devices. We have been working hard learning about rhyming words, tier 1 & 2 words, onomatopoeia and alliteration. During our independent work time we have been undertaking partner reading to help us become stronger readers.

In Writing we have been using what we have learnt during reading to write simple alliteration sentences. We have been working hard to form our letters correctly and write them on the dotted thirds. We have continued to practice using capital letters, full stops and correct spacing when writing. We are enjoying reading our writing to our peers.

In Maths we have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes and investigating where we see them in our everyday world. Ask us about what 3D shapes can roll, slide or stack and we will be sure to tell you all about it!

In Religion we are learning about the ways we can share kindness in our everyday life just like Jesus did. We have been trying very hard to be mindful during our meditation on Tuesday and Wednesday morning, so we can begin our days with a calm and grateful mind.

In Inquiry we have been learning about now and then. We were lucky enough to have Mrs Boyer set up some wonderful activities for us during library time where we explored the different games people played in the past.

We had the BEST time celebrating our 100 days of school last week - What an amazing job all the prep students did counting each day we have been at school! We all loved dressing up and having a party to celebrate all our amazing learning! Big thanks to all the parents for the amazing costumes!

Thanks from the Prep Team!
