From the Year 5 Classroom

Literacy  

In Reading we have been exploring Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr. Fox. Students have been adapting the text to create a short script. They have been looking for important passages in the text that highlight character traits of the protagonist and antagonists.  

Olympics 

During the last few weeks, students have been working on an Inquiry project based on the Olympics. Students chose to research an athlete, sport, or participating country. They have been working hard at presenting their information on posters, showing their creativity. 

Students have also been having fun exploring different Olympics data looking at range, mean, median and mode. 

FIRE carriers 

Some of our students will become FIRE Carriers in a commissioning ceremony that was postponed and will take place on Thursday the 15th of August at 2:30pm. Visitors are welcome to join.  

Reminders 

A gentle reminder that students are encouraged to read 4 nights a week for 20 minutes.  

Hats are also required now for the remainder of the year.
