Dear Families,
Welcome back to Term Three! I was saddened to hear that many of our families experienced a number of dreaded lurgies over the course of the school holidays. I do hope that you have all recovered. Many of our staff experienced the same.
Despite the above, it has been a really positive start to the term. Our amazing students have settled back into their learning environments very smoothly, which is a credit to them. They all seem refreshed and rejuvenated as they came back to school.
It was absolutely delightful to see the smiles and elation on our students’ faces when they re-entered our school grounds and saw the new basketball/netball rings and oval fencing. Work was completed over the holidays, which was fantastic. The new basketball rings are reversible, so that the court can be set up for netball games. I am happy to report that the number of footballs and soccer balls lost over the side fence has been dramatically reduced across this week!
Work has also continued in our Residence Building. I am very hopeful that we will be able to use this space soon, for our one-on-one music lessons and wellbeing sessions. Thank you to the many parents who have been so understanding and patient whilst we manage limited space for our music lessons. Unfortunately, delays in construction due to a number of reasons have prolonged this project.
Over the course of the week, our students have been using their inquisitive minds to wonder all about different aspects of the Olympics. Some students are impressing us with a range of interesting facts about the sustainability commitments being made at the Paris Games, whilst others are finding out all about Olympic History. It is an exciting time every four years, where the students get the chance to learning about countries and cultures from across the globe.
Finally, the weather has well and truly started reflecting Ballarat’s reputation for being one of the coldest places in Australia. We have had to have a couple of wet weather timetables this week, but the students have managed this well.
Have a fantastic weekend 😊
