Term 3 Week 4 2024 - Friday 9th August
What have we been up to?
Another awesome couple of weeks in grade 1/2! Nearly halfway through the term!!
All of our students are involved in our Term 3 concert which will be held on September 12th.
We have sent out an email regarding our school concert. If you need extra information please contact your student’s classroom teacher or Ms Susie. We would appreciate help with the costumes and props, our theme is Space. Our beautiful students are so excited about their upcoming performance and we look forward to all families coming to watch.
We have started a new poetry unit for this term! All students have been learning about the different types of poetry with a new focus poem each week. So far all students have written a shape poem, haiku poem and this week the focus is Rhyming poems. All of the students are really enjoying this unit of work and we are super impressed with all of the effort and creativity that they are putting in. Superstars! All classes will have written five poems by the end of the term.
In Maths, students have been working on time. We have had a focus on calendars, schedules and working on reading an analogue clock. We encourage students to be practicing this at home if possible! The more practice, the easier it will become!!
In Inquiry, we have been looking at the Paris Olympics, on Friday the 1/2 cohort completed a rotation of sports that are played at the Olympics. Students were split into house groups and each student got to get involved in Soccer, Relay Races, Basketball and Goal kicking practice. The students had an awesome time and it was lovely to get all of the kids together and play outside.
Just a reminder to be returning your child's reading folder every Friday. This should include their reader and reading diary. Please make sure your child is reading every night if possible!
Another week down!!
The 1/2s participated in a Mini Olympics and had a great time doing different sports.
The 1/2s lined up in order of their birthdays to learn about months.
