Concert Rehearsals

The staff and students are busy rehearsing for our upcoming School Concert on September 12th, the night of nights when they will take the stage to perform. The theme of the concert this year is Songs of Love and Peace. The concert will feature performances by solo instrumentalists, the school choir and band, and each cohort of students from Foundation to Year 6. It's sure to be a memorable evening showcasing the talent and hard work of our students. Information regarding costumes will be shared shortly. We look forward to seeing you there and celebrating this special event with our school community.

Next Monday August 12th, the students will sing in a mobile recording studio set up in the hall, to record their voices. These recordings will serve as backing tracks and will be played at the same time as the students perform at the concert so their voices will be heard loud and clear. 10.00: Foundation Sing a Rainbow & Calypso 10.50: Years 1&2 - Teach the world & Rocket Sam 12.30: Years 3&4 - Walking on Sunshine 1.20: Years 5&6 - Count on Me & Feel the Joy 2.40: Choir - I’ve got the music in me

Art Exhibition ‘Animals in the Wild’

We are excited to announce that, for the first time, Le Page Primary School will be holding an art exhibition titled ‘Animals in the Wild’ November 7th-8th. This exhibition will showcase the wonderful artwork our students have created throughout the year. We invite all families and the community to come and see and enjoy the creativity on display. To help build excitement for our first art exhibition and promote it to our families and community, we are encouraging students to create Animals in the Wild posters to advertise the event. The top 5 posters will be displayed around the school.

Understanding the Circle of Influence

The "Circle of Influence" is a concept introduced by Stephen Covey in his book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. It is part of the first habit, "Be Proactive," and is used to illustrate how we can focus our energy and attention to become more effective in our lives. Covey describes two circles:

Circle of Concern: This includes all the things we care about, such as world events, the economy, the weather, other people’s opinions, etc. However, we often have little to no control over these things.

Circle of Influence: This includes things we can do something about, such as our attitudes, behaviours, habits, and responses to situations.

Key Concepts

Proactive people focus their time and energy within their Circle of Influence. They work on things they can do something about, which leads to a growth in their influence. Reactive people, on the other hand, tend to focus on the Circle of Concern. They worry about circumstances beyond their control, which can lead to feelings of helplessness and shrinking influence.

By focusing on things within your control—your own actions and responses—you can gradually expand your Circle of Influence. This is because people who consistently demonstrate responsibility, reliability, and positive influence tend to gain more opportunities and trust from others.

Covey suggests that we have limited time and energy, so it’s more effective to focus on areas where we can make a real impact. Spending too much time worrying about things outside our control can drain our energy and reduce our effectiveness.

Application in Daily Life

In our personal life we can focus on improving ourselves, our habits, health, relationships, and skills, rather than worrying about things we cannot change.

In the workplace we can concentrate on doing our job to the best of our ability, building positive relationships with colleagues, and developing new skills rather than getting caught up in office politics or external factors we can’t control.

We can engage in activities where we can directly contribute, such as volunteering or mentoring, rather than feeling overwhelmed by global issues beyond our direct control.

By focusing on the Circle of Influence, we can become more effective, reduce stress, and create positive change in our lives and the lives of those around us.
