National Simultaneous Storytime 2025

Story Time Magic in Our Library!

This week we had a wonderful experience in the library during National Simultaneous Story Time!

Our Prep to Grade 3 students gathered to take part in this special nationwide live-streaming event. Sally Rippin hosted the event, which saw over two million children across Australia reading the same book at the same time. It was a fantastic way to make reading feel magical and connected.

This year’s featured story was The Truck Cat by Deborah Finkel, beautifully illustrated by Danny Snell. We received a warm and meaningful Welcome to Country from Uncle Josh West, followed by Deborah Finkel reading the picture book and Danny Snell, the book's illustrator, giving a short drawing lesson.

There was also some local excitement - Scarlet won a copy of The Truck Cat in our lucky door prize draw. Congratulations, Scarlet.

Participating in this special event was a lovely reminder of just how much joy stories can bring - whether we’re reading them, sharing them, drawing characters, or simply letting our imaginations run wild.

Thank you for encouraging your child’s love of books. Moments like these show how reading helps children connect, create, and grow - all while having a whole lot of fun!
