WORKING BEE THANK YOU

A heartfelt thank you to all the parents who generously gave their time on Sunday to support our Working Bee. Thanks to your efforts, the Sensory Garden is thriving, and we can’t wait to see our students enjoying the revitalised space.

A special shout-out goes to Jill and Michael, whose leadership, planning, and tireless work over the past 12 months have brought this project to life. Their dedication, securing donations from local nurseries and Bunnings, and spending countless hours in the garden, has truly transformed the area. With the continued support of our amazing parent community, the Sensory Garden has become a beautiful, calming place for our students to enjoy.

YEAR 4 BRICKS FOR KIDS ADVANCED ROBOTICS INCURSION

As part of their inquiry ‘How We Organise Ourselves’, the Year 4’s participated in a robotics incursion, Bricks4Kidz. Our students were able to work collaboratively to explore how technology has advanced over time and how simple technology, such as Lego, can be used for a wider purpose such as intertwining with digital technology to be coded. The Year 4’s enjoyed creating their Lego Claws which they then used their coding skills to grab and lift an object.

YEAR 6 PARLIAMENT PROCESS INCURSION

As part of their ‘How we organise ourselves unit’, the Year 6 students participated in the Parliament Process incursion. During the incursion, they were immersed in the Australian Federal Parliament discovering how the government in Australia is structured and how our preferential voting system functions. Students participated in a Federal Parliament Senate role play, with costumes and props, to illustrate how bills become laws. They formed political parties through an election and added their own opinions to the debate, allowing their creativity to flourish.

YEAR 3 EXCURSION - HWEO CITY WALK EXCURSION

On Monday and Wednesday, the Year 3 students had an exciting educational outing. They walked through the city, observing various designs and architectural elements around them. The students enthusiastically noted the intricate details and different styles they encountered, using iPads to capture the environment around them.

The students began their journey at Carlton Gardens and concluded at Federation Square, where they observed the unique geometric shapes of the surrounding architecture. This experience sparked their curiosity and appreciation for design and architecture.

The trip was a wonderful success, providing our Year 3 students with an enriching experience that enhanced their learning with their real-world observations. The Year 3 teachers would like to say a big thank you to all the parent helpers who assisted on the excursion!

DISCOVERY DAYS - FOUNDATION 2026

Last Friday, we held our first Discovery session for prospective 2026 Foundation students. Kinder children were invited to participate in fun, hands-on learning activities in the classrooms with one of our Foundation teachers. These fantastic sessions provide children with an opportunity to explore and experience school life in the classroom context while building their confidence and enthusiasm toward school.

Throughout Term 3, we will also have ‘Storytime’ sessions held in the library. Our Foundation teachers and our Library Technician will engage the students in some wonderful stories and fun activities. Storytime sessions will be held on the 8th, 16th, 22nd of August and 5th of September.
