Connect Groups - change of dates
Due to our grade 34 students participating in an exciting QUANTUM excursion next Friday, our Connect Groups will move from Friday 6th June to Wednesday 18th June. Thankyou to those parents who are able to support our groups on this day. I apologise for any inconvenience that this has caused.
Friendships Blossoming in the Sunshine
There’s something truly special about the way friendships bloom during play times at Rolling Hills Primary School. Over the past few weeks, we’ve loved seeing students making the most of our wonderful outdoor spaces and enjoying the company of others in meaningful and creative ways.
Our shaded Quad area has become a favourite spot for many students. It’s heartwarming to see children gathering there to connect with others who share similar interests. Whether it’s colouring, drawing, reading, or crafting, these calm and creative activities are helping to foster friendships and build a strong sense of belonging.
On these gorgeous sunny days, students are not only enjoying the fresh air but also developing important social skills—learning how to share, collaborate, and include others. The smiles, laughter, and thoughtful conversations happening around our school are a wonderful reminder of the power of connection and the importance of community.
We are so proud of the way our students are embracing kindness, creativity, and inclusivity during their play times. These moments of connection make our school a truly special place to learn and grow.
🏫 Our School Value: HONESTY
This term, our school community is focusing on the important value of Honesty. At RHPS, we define honesty as telling the truth, owning our actions, and doing what is right—even when no one is watching. It's a value that builds trust, strengthens relationships, and helps children grow into thoughtful, responsible individuals.
Across the school, students have been exploring what honesty looks like, sounds like, and feels like. Whether it's admitting a mistake, returning something that doesn't belong to them, or speaking up kindly when something isn't fair, our students are learning that honesty is a powerful choice that helps everyone feel safe and respected.
How Families Can Encourage Honesty at Home
Here are a few simple and effective strategies families can use to nurture honesty at home:
1. Model Honest Behaviour
Children watch and learn from adults. Be open about small things — “I made a mistake!” — and show them that telling the truth is valued more than being perfect.
2. Praise Honesty
When your child tells the truth, especially in a tricky situation, let them know you appreciate their honesty. Say things like: “It was brave of you to tell me that. Thank you for being honest.”
3. Create a Safe Environment
Children are more likely to tell the truth when they know they won’t get in trouble for every mistake. Focus on learning and moving forward instead of consequences.
4. Read Books About Honesty
Stories like “The Empty Pot” by Demi or “Ruthie and the (Not So) Teeny Tiny Lie” by Laura Rankin open up great discussions about honesty in everyday situations.
5. Set Clear Expectations
Let your child know that honesty is important to your family. Keep the message simple and consistent: “In our family, we always tell the truth.”
By working together as a school and family team, we can help our children understand that honesty is not always easy — but it is always the right thing to do.
Thank you for your continued support in building a positive, values-based community at RHPS.

Our ongoing regular group programs run weekly or fortnightly, and are designed to connect peers around common interests, providing opportunities to build language and social skills in a safe environment.
Our groups are facilitated by a combination of qualified Speech Pathologists, Art Therapists and Allied Health Assistants.
These groups do not teach a specific language or social skills curriculum, but are instead designed to provide a safe environment facilitated by clinicians so that children can build confidence in social interaction, build their language skills, and connect regularly with peers around a common interest.
