Music

It has been an action packed start to Term 2 in music. Prep and Grade 1 went on an excursion to see the TSO present their “More Words and Music” concert at Tarremah Steiner School. Students enthusiastically participated in the concert, which was all about how words in stories inspire music and how descriptive words on the score can change the way we play music. They joined the orchestra in performing a piece with some body percussion moves we rehearsed at school prior to the day. Lunch at Kingston park afterwards rounded out a fantastic day.
On May 19th, Grades 2 - 6 participated in Jon Madin’s “Whacky Instruments” workshop, which culminated in a concert for the entire school in the afternoon. Students had a go playing echo cellos, marimbas, musical bikes, ding boxes, and even a “honky glove machine”. If you are unsure what any of these are, consult the students - they are experts now! It was so wonderful to see all students get up and perform confidently with their peers.
