Aboriginal Dance Performance

On Monday the 12th of May we were fortunate enough to have a visit from Linton and Leroy. Our day began with the whole school gathering in our new hall to watch Linton and Leroy perform some traditional dance, explain the story behind the dances and engage with us in some question and answer time.
Students thoroughly enjoyed the entire performance. After a recess break our Aboriginal students from Grades 3 - 6 engaged in a knowledge sharing and Dance workshop with Leroy. Students were extremely enthusiastic, full of questions and thoroughly enjoyed this experience.
In the afternoon our Prep class and Aboriginal students from Kinder to Grade 2 engaged in a similar workshop aimed at their level with high energy and excitement. Watching Leroy 'spray paint' with ochre was most definitely a favourite with our younger students. This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to learn from and alongside a young Aboriginal man and the respect they have for Leroy was evident.
