Principal's Report

Mr Tristan Lanarus

Report from Westall Secondary College Principal

Dear Westall Community,

As we approach the end of another term, I want to take this opportunity to reflect on the strong sense of purpose and community that defines Westall Secondary College. It has been a productive and inspiring term, full of growth, achievement, and a shared commitment to our core CARE values.

At Westall, we believe that every student can achieve excellence when they apply themselves fully. That’s why we place such a high priority on effort and striving for one’s personal best. This is promoted through how we assess and report student achievement and will again be reflected in the upcoming semester reports.

Whether it’s in the classroom, on the sporting field, or through creative and leadership opportunities, we encourage students to give their best each and every day. We recognise and celebrate growth, persistence, and the courage it takes to overcome challenges – because true achievement is not just about results, but about the journey taken to get there.

Just as vital to this journey is the unwavering support and involvement of our parents and families. The partnership between school and home is essential in shaping students who are confident, resilient, and engaged in their learning. Whether it’s attending school events, communicating with teachers, helping with routines at home, or simply encouraging your child to stay motivated – your involvement has a significant and lasting impact. The research around how important parents/families are in their child’s success at school is obvious and significant.

Parents/Carers, two important things coming up to be involved with.

  1. Please ensure over the school holidays that you spend time with your child going over the Semester One Report, reflect on successes and areas to focus on and help set goals for Semester Two.

  2. Review the Course Handbook with subject selections for 2026 and discuss the best subjects and program for your child to pursue in 2026.

Together, as a united community, we are shaping a culture where learning is valued, and success is celebrated.

I extend my sincere thanks to all our families for your continued support and collaboration. Let’s keep working together to ensure every student at Westall can thrive and reach their full potential.

Wishing all our students and families a successful end to Term 2 and a restful and safe term break.

Until next time

Tristan Lanarus
