First Eucharist and
a Prayer for Peace
First Eucharist and
a Prayer for Peace
On Sunday, many of our Year 4 students will receive the Eucharist for the first time. As you could understand they are very excited to be celebrating this important step on their faith journey, looking forward to celebrating the day with family and friends and most importantly being able from this point onward to celebrate more fully in the Mass.
A few remnders for the day. If you have booked in for professional photos, they are taken in the rooms at the back of the church and you enter via the carpark. The children will process in at the start of Mass, so they will show their families to their seats and then gather in the foyer when called. The children will be ushered forward one at a time to recieve the Eucharist and are invited to have one or two adults join them, standing behind the child in support. Please no photos during Mass, but we will pause at the end for a proffesional group shot and then allow time for families to take as many photos as they need to.
Dear Lord,
We thank You and praise You for the most precious gift of the Holy Eucharist.
We ask You to bless all those who are preparing to receive Your Body and Blood for the first time.
You have provided for us richly through the gift of Your Body and Blood.
Receiving the Holy Eucharist is a tremendous blessing,
and we ask You to help all who are preparing to make their First Holy Communion.
Help them to grow in love for You each day of our lives.
Help them to always appreciate the great gifts You have given us for our salvation.
Amen
As our world seems to be in need of peace and calm. Our new Pope has called a number of times for us all to pray for and create peace in our world.
The first place to begin, is always right in front of you, with those whom you see each day. You might like to pause and contemplate this prayer from the Book of Numbers and think of someone you know who needs peace and calm in their lives.
‘May the Lord bless you and protect you.
May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you.
May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.’
Numbers 6:24-26
