Important Information

Working in Partnership with External Professionals

At St Margaret Mary's, we are committed to supporting the wellbeing, development, and learning of every child in our care. We know that children thrive best when the adults in their lives work together—and that includes strong partnerships between families, the school, and external professionals.

We regularly collaborate with a range of allied health professionals and specialists such as speech pathologists, occupational therapists, psychologists, and paediatricians. These professionals can provide valuable insight into how best to support students in their learning and development.

To help us work most effectively with your child, we kindly ask that parents and carers provide the school with a copy of any reports or assessments received from allied health or medical professionals. These documents help us better understand your child’s strengths, challenges, and recommended supports so we can tailor our teaching and strategies accordingly.

If you would like the school to communicate directly with an allied health professional or specialist, such as a paediatrician or psychologist, we are more than happy to assist. However, for privacy and legal reasons, you will need to complete a Release of Confidential Information form. This form gives us permission to share relevant information with, or receive information from, the nominated professional.

Please also let us know if you would like the school to provide specific information or documentation directly to an allied health or medical professional. If the request comes from you as the parent or carer, we are happy to assist—simply provide the request in writing and let us know what information you would like shared. If the request comes directly from the professional, we will need your written consent before we can release any information.

Any information, questionnaires, or surveys requested by a professional will be completed by the school and sent directly to that professional. This process ensures that the information is handled appropriately and confidentially.

We deeply value our partnership with you and with the professionals who support your child. Working together ensures we can provide the best possible learning environment for every student.

If you have any questions or would like a copy of the release form, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office.
