Last week, our students took part in one of the highlights of the library calendar — National Simultaneous Storytime 2025! On Wednesday, we joined thousands of children around the country in reading this year’s chosen book, The Truck Cat by Deborah Frenkel and illustrated by Danny Snell.
The story follows a heartwarming journey of a stray cat who finds a home on the road with a kind truck driver. The students were captivated by the tale and its beautiful illustrations, and many were eager to share their thoughts afterwards with lively discussions about kindness, finding where you belong, and even about pets who travel with their owners!
Some of our classes also had the exciting opportunity to watch the live stream of the event, where the author read The Truck Cat aloud and the illustrator gave a behind-the-scenes look at how the artwork was created. The students were especially fascinated to see how the pictures went from rough sketches to the vibrant scenes they enjoyed in the book.
It was a wonderful way to bring storytelling to life and encourage a love of reading and illustration. Thank you for continuing to support your children’s reading journey at home — events like these remind us how powerful and joyful a shared story can be.
Just a friendly reminder of our weekly library schedule:
Please ensure your child brings their library bag on their designated day and returns any outstanding library books as soon as possible.
Thank you for supporting your child's love of reading!
Regards,
Michele
