Dear Families of SMOTA,
Last week we joined Catholic schools across our diocese in celebrating Catholic Schools Week—a time to reflect on and give thanks for the gift of Catholic education.
It was a special opportunity to honour the unique spirit that sets our catholic schools apart: a deep sense of community, a commitment to faith and service, and a shared mission to nurture the mind, heart, and soul of every child.
At the heart of our Catholic tradition is the value of excellence in education—the belief that every child is called to reach their God-given potential.
At St Mary of the Angels, we strive each day to provide rich learning experiences that engage, challenge, and inspire.
Excellence in education evidenced by achievement and growth. To see a snap shot of our young people and their growth in Mathematics; head to "The Learning Zone" page HERE. We know that academic achievement flourishes best in a setting where students feel safe, known, and loved. This commitment to excellence is a hallmark of Catholic schools, where faith and learning walk hand in hand, underpinned by our core Catholic Principles and Values.
We were especially blessed this week to welcome Bishop Peter Murphy of the Diocese of Armidale, who visited our classrooms and spent time with our students and staff.
His warmth, wisdom, and genuine interest in the lives of our young people reminded us all of our connection to the broader Church and the importance of walking together in faith. Our students were inspired by his visit and delighted in the opportunity to ask questions and share their learning.
Catholic schools are indeed something special. They are places where faith and knowledge meet, where the dignity of each child is celebrated, and where Gospel values are lived out each day.
They are communities grounded in hope, love and truth, with a clear commitment to forming young people of integrity, wisdom, and compassion.
We thank you, as the parents and carers for your ongoing support and for walking with us in this beautiful mission.
"Winter is Coming": Cold Weather
Over the past few days, Guyra has reminded us that the winter cold is well and truly here.
During these colder months, please ensure your child is equipped with well fitting clothing, that is warm and ensures they are protected from the elements.
A reminder that our young people are permitted to wear a beanie WITH their wide brimmed school hat.
Packing enough low GI wholesome foods, is another support for our young people and their learning. As the cold weather hits, our young people burn more energy and hence require additional food in their lunchboxes so they can maintain their energy for learning. Mini Thermos are a great addition to the lunch box and the young people love the warmth of noodles or last nights left overs in their stomach.
We hope you have a blessed three days off, may they be filled with family...fun...and no broken arms!
Blessings
Zoe
