This year is a Jubilee year for the Catholic Church this happens every 25 years and was proclaimed by Pope Francis with the uplifting theme: “Pilgrims of Hope.” This special year is a time of renewal, grace, and unity for Catholics around the world.
The Jubilee Year will began last December with Pope Francis opening the Holy Door at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.
As part of this holy year, the Church invites all of us to become pilgrims of hope—people on a journey of faith. A pilgrimage can be a spiritual journey, but it can also be a physical experience, such as a long walk to a special place of prayer. Whether we travel far or stay close to home, the heart of a pilgrimage is openness to God and a desire to grow in love, faith, and service. Rosario Lobo, our school counsellor recently completed a pilgrimage. Here are a few words from him.
I just completed a 770 km walk from the South of France to Santiago de Compostela, Spain in 33 days, averaging about 25 km daily. I hadn’t planned on doing the Camino but was inspired by the Australian film The Way, My Way by Bill Bennett and a couple of people I know who walked part of it last year, Melissa Barrett and a teacher from my Padua College. The scenery was incredible, and the people I met made the journey special. A challenging, unforgettable experience.
Next Friday 6th June is Spirit Day at Holy Spirit. On this day we celebrate our school. We will begin the day with a whole school mass at 9:15 which everyone is more that welcome to attend. After recess our newly confirmed grade six students have prepared a pilgrimage around our school focussing on 'Pilgrims of Hope'. In the afternoon
Last Thursday many of our grade 6 students were confirmed at St Patrick's Cathedral. It was a beautiful ceremony and our new bishop for the eastern region Bishop Thinh, made our students feel very special. He had three things that he wanted the students to remember,
1. You are chosen
2. You are never alone
3. You have a mission.
Year Level Masses are as follows:
Level Masses will be held in the Church
at 9:15 on Wednesdays.
11/6 - Year 1 Level Mass

Parents are most welcome to stay after mass and have a cuppa in the Parish House.

Congratulations to all our children who were confirmed last Thursday at St Patrick’s Cathedral. We hope it was a memorable experience for you and your families. This coming Saturday at the 6pm mass, the Grade 5 and 6 children will be welcomed and there will be a supper served after mass and the Confirmation Candidates will be presented with their official Certificate of Confirmation.
On Friday we have a Cancer Council biggest morning tea happening in the Community Centre from 9am till 12 noon. Why not pop in for a cuppa and help raise funds for a much needed cause. So many of us have been affected by cancer, so why not help to make a difference. If you would like to contribute to the cake stall, cakes can be dropped off to the Centre between 2.30-4.00 pm on Thursday 29th May. Please remember to list ingredients used.
On Friday 6th June the school will be celebrating “Holy Spirit Day” starting with mass at 9.15 am followed by acitivites throughout the day in the Community Centre. That weekend we celebrate Pentecost Sunday, our Parish Feast Day. After each mass there will be tea and coffee served and we have asked Parishioners to bring a plate to share. The Liturgy Team are hoping to have some of the Prayers of the Faithful read in a language other than English. If you are able to help, please add your name to the sheet at the back of the Church and someone will contact you with a prayer for you to translate into the other language to read at the mass you will be attending.
Blessings from the Parish House Team.
