What's happening in Italian?
Salve,
I hope you are all keeping warm!
Over the last few weeks, our Year 5/6 students have been exploring various Italian cities and discovering what each is known for. After reading and gathering information, they began various activities including locating these cities on a map of Italy, along with identifying major mountain ranges, rivers, and volcanoes. To reinforce their learning, students also completed a short assessment to test their understanding of the content.
Year 3/4 students have been learning about the regions of Italy. They have been busy labelling these regions on a map of Italy and using compass point language to describe their locations. They have enjoyed putting Italy together using our Regions of Italy puzzle. These activities have helped students build both their geographical knowledge and their Italian language skills.
Our Year 1/2 students have been comparing the maps of Australia and Italy. They discovered that while Australia is divided into states and territories, Italy is divided into regions. Students revised their knowledge of colours and followed instructions to colour the Italian regions and Australian states and territories using specific colours.
They also learned that Italian regions are often described by their location i.e. Nord (North), Centro (Centre), or Sud (South) d’Italia.
Our Prep students have been learning about the Italian and Australian flags. They explored the colours of each flag and practised using the colours - rosso (red), bianco (white), verde (green), and blu (blue). We also discussed what each of the flags represent. This has been a fun and colourful way to build their vocabulary and cultural understanding.
Alla prossima volta,
Saluti
