Diocesan Touch Trials

Hugo Holmes and Josh Jeffery travelled to Glen Innes on Friday 16th May, to trial for the Diocesan Touch Football Team. There were over 100 competitors on the day. They were very lucky to meet Australian Touch player, Steph Halpin, who ran through some skills and drills with the players.

Josh and Hugo both played extremely well and should be very proud of the way they represented St Xavier's.

Congratulations to Josh who was successful in claiming his spot in the Diocesan team to compete at the Polding Touch Trials to be held in Port Macquarie on 3rd July.

NSWCPS CROSS COUNTRY

St Xavier's has four students; Anna Beer, Tom Johnson, Angus Hinchcliffe and Ari Mallon who have progressed to the next level of Cross Country. They will travel to Horsely Park to compete at the NSWCPS Cross Country on 11th June.

ACS Gary McSweeney Cup and Rugby Union Trials

Today, we have a team of 15 senior rugby players competing in Tamworth. This day serves as the Armidale Catholic Schools Gary McSweeney Cup and Armidale Catholic Schools Rugby Selection Trials. A Diocesan team will be selected to represent the Armidale Diocese at the NSWCPS Rugby Union Championships in Forbes on Sunday, 29th June - Monday, 30 June 2025. The winning full-school team will advance to the second stage of the knockout competitions.

A huge thanks to Jess Stevenson for managing the team and to Lindsay Mainey for coaching.

ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

Please take note of the changes to pick up and drop off of your children

NO ONE WILL BE AT SCHOOL ON THIS DAY

Consent for the athletics carnival needs to be completed on Compass by Friday 6th June.

IMPORTANT Information for students aged 8 years and over

-The 800m event will be the first event on the day of the carnival. You will need to nominate your child on the consent form if they want to participate. You will need to have your child at the carnival before 8.30am to be eligible to run.

-The 1500m event will not be run at our school carnival. If you would like your child to be considered for this event at the Diocesan Carnival you will need to indicate on the consent form and provide a time. There are only limited numbers of entries that can be submitted and you must meet the Diocesan qualifying time to be eligible. This is only for students 8 years and over.

-The Discus event will be run at school prior to the carnival.

In the past all students have done discus as a competition before the carnival, however, due to safety precautions only those students who wish to compete and be selected to go to the Diocesan Athletics carnival will participate. This is only for students 8 years and over.

All students have been given the opportunity to learn and practice discus in their athletics rotations on a Friday in a non competitive setting.

For Diocesan Athletics, discus has three divisions: Juniors (8,9,10yrs), 11yrs and Seniors (12,13yrs). Below are the minimum qualifying distances for discus for the Diocesan Carnival. Please look at the qualifying distances and discuss with your child if you would like to enter them into the event on the Compass Consent Form.
