Students read the book 'The Echidna Near My Place'. Students looked at Indigenous artwork and used Indigenous designed paper to create the spikes of an echidna. The students drew the eyes and legs and then used PVA glue to attach the spikes in a layered effect. Using paint sticks, the students designed a habitat for the echidnas to enjoy.
Grades 1 and 2
Continuing with the season of Autumn, the students have been developing their stitching skills. Students chose a coloured foam leaf and coloured thread and added texture by stitching straight stitched on the leaf. Students learnt about the eye of the needle and practised threading the needle.
Grades 3 and 4
Students have explored the effect of using water has on their artwork. Students used watercolour pencils and water activated paint to explore the different effects.
Grades 5 and 6
Students have been working on their trioramas to create a part of the reef that has been impacted by coral bleaching. Students could only use different types of white paper to create their artwork as part of the reef impacted by global warming. Students needed to consider how to attach the paper construction to the triorama. The students presented their artwork to their classmates and then reflected on their artwork
