PE Focus

This week the Year 5/6's have begun their Athletics unit.

First up, 'sprinting' and 'hurdles'.

Students were taught the importance of stretching and preparing properly for each activity.

In order to combat the anxiety that goes along with hurdles, students went through drills that isolated hurdle movements and increased in difficultly until they had the confidence to jump over them with all the combined body mechanics.

It was pleasing to see students have a go despite the fear factor that goes along with hurdles!

District/Division Cross Country

60 students descended onto Macleay Park last Friday to compete in the District Cross Country.

The effort that each of these students put into their races was impressive to see and I was very proud to represent our school at this event. Regardless of where you finished, you should be very proud of your efforts as the level was quite high on the day.

It was a bonus to see 5 students make it to the next level of competition.

I would like to congratulate Alexis 34K, Abby 5CE, Julian 5CB, Ben 5CB and Yuna 6SB on their achievements in doing so.

Well done and good luck at Division Cross Country!
