Student Achievements
Hope Eddleston
Hope Eddleston, Year 7, was recently selected from all South Australian calisthenics clubs to represent the state in the Junior State Development Calisthenics Team, which competed in Darwin in September.
Hope and her team placed first in all six items performed and were announced as the aggregate winners of the Darwin Frangipani Cup 2023. What an outstanding achievement Hope. Congratulations!
Owen Meinel
Last Friday 20th October, Owen Meinel, Year 8, attended the Australian Mathematics Competition State Awards ceremony hosted by the Australian Mathematics Trust.
Owen received a High Distinction and Best in the School Awards. This is a remarkable achievement and a testament to his talent, advanced mathematical skill, and problem-solving ability. A High Distinction certificate is awarded to a student who has not received a higher award but is in the top 3% of their year and state.
Congratulations Owen, on your outstanding achievement, and may you continue to excel in your mathematical journey.
Sienna Loveday
Late last term Sienna Loveday, Year 8, competed in the Under 14 National Basketball Club Championships which were held in Victoria, with her Norwood Flames District Basketball Team.
The competition is held annually and is for the top 24 club teams (both girls and boys) across Australia to compete for the national title.
Sienna’s team played with tremendous spirit and heart to win their first three games to place them in the top twelve teams. They battled hard to finish tenth. This was a great effort!
Some prestigious visitors to the championship included Michelle Timms and Lauren Jackson, who went out of their way to mingle with the younger generation of basketballers.
Well done, Sienna!
RockFest 2023
This year we decided to enter the Endeavour College Funk Band, Rock Band and 3 soloists into the national RockFest Competition. This 'Battle of the Bands' style contest features entrants from schools all around Australia. While our bands did not make the finals, we were very excited to find out that three individuals were selected as finalists!
These were:
Best Guitarist – Year 11 student Austin Gillard
Best Drummer – Year 10 student Cooper Foskett
Best Bass Player – Year 12 student Jemma Gardner
This was a huge achievement, as only four finalists from around Australia are selected in each of these categories.
We are excited to announce that Cooper Foskett won the Best Drummer Award!
Cooper’s winning solo video, along with all our entries can be viewed on the RockFest Youtube page.
