From The Principal's Desk

Dear Parents and Carers,

Our writing has kicked into gear in our classrooms and the weather is following along with it. Our Writers' Festival has been advertised and we hope that you can attend this event to help us celebrate writing across the school. It will commence with an assembly on Friday 27th October where we will acknowledge the students for their efforts and present some awards.

It is getting to that time where we will start to place students in grades for 2024.

In 2024 we have added Music to our specialist schedule for our juniors. We have also appointed two new middle leaders to new positions in the school. In 2024, Mr Columbro will be an Acting Assistant Principal for 3 days a week and in the classroom 2 days a week. This will support our Assistant Principal load as Mrs Cooper reduces to 4 days a week load and Mrs Lindsay to 3 days a week load.

We have also appointed Mrs Bailey to the Acting Literacy Specialist role for 4 days a week to support our Literacy team and drive further Literacy improvements.

In 2024 we have extended our Tutoring program to include more staff trained in the Sounds Write intervention program and this will allow us to support more students.

We have employed 10 new classroom teaching staff for 2024 to cater for the increase in students and the loss of some current staff in 2024. Miss Boyle will be taking leave to explore life in Europe, but we hope to see her back and we have a number of staff taking family leave that we have needed to replace.

As a result, our staffing structure will have a few changes and we ask that parents do not request teachers. We believe that the staff we have employed for 2024 will be great additions to our school.  We will look to make you aware of our staffing in the second last week of the year.

STUDENT CLASS PLACEMENTS 2024

Our teachers place students in classrooms where they feel they will work best. There are a range of processes they consider from academic to social to balance a class. If you feel strongly that your child will not work productively with another student, we require this request in writing before November 6th (the day before Melbourne Cup). Please either email your child’s classroom teacher or a member of the Leadership team.

We all want the best for our students and provide the best education possible.
