From the Principal

Our Vision

Each child has a gift or talent. It is our job to find it and to show it to them.

Our Mission

Identify the talent, develop the confidence and create the leader.

What do we live for, if it is not to make life less difficult for each other?

Dear Parents and Carers,

The end of the year is rapidly drawing near. There is still much to be done and fun to be had. We are looking forward to celebrations such as the picnic night and graduation. Thank you for your ongoing generous spirit and kindness.

Hand Dryers

Three hand-dryers are now installed and proving to be popular in the student toilets. This was a request by the Student Lighthouse Team and were happy to provide this upgrade.

Inclusive School Garden

We are still waiting for the sunrise-coloured shade sail to arrive. The amphitheatre was reworked to make it more functionable.

Parent Garden Team

We acknowledge the volunteers who gave of their time and especially Natalie Grabert who has worked in the gardens weekly to weed and maintain the garden beds.

Second-hand School Uniform Sale

Our second-hand school uniform sale was held today.  It was another great opportunity for parents to pick up uniform items for $5. It was another generous facilitation from our volunteers.

Christmas Raffle and Family Picnic Night

The Social and Fundraising Team is running a Christmas raffle to be drawn at our family picnic night on December 6. Tickets are $2 and each student has been given a book of 10 tickets.  There are over $1,500 worth of prizes all of which have been donated from some very generous businesses. We acknowledge Sally who was responsible for securing these donations. At the family picnic there will be student performances and Howzitt Brew will bring their Mobile Café. Families are encouraged to bring picnic blankets, chairs and dinner. It will be a fun event.

Up Day

Tuesday December 12th we will conduct the annual “Up Day” morning. All students returning to Le Page in 2024 will meet their new teachers and classes in their new classroom.

Final Full Week of Term

As always, the final week of Term 4 is always busy for everyone. In the last full week of term Monday 11th of December to Friday 15th of December, we will have all our final celebrations for the year.

Mon 11th: Regular day

Tue 12th: Up Day morning and Year 6-7 State-wide Transition Day

Wed 13th: Year 6 Graduation

Thu 14th: Class celebration and KK and Year 6 Big Day Out

Fri 15th: Final assembly for the year - 2:45-3:00

On Monday 18th of December and Tuesday 19th, alternate programs will be offered as we wrap up for the year. We have had some feedback that many families will be commencing holidays early so that they can travel or are cautious about sending their children just before Christmas in case of illness. We completely understand and respect this decision. Children that do attend on Monday and Tuesday will be in slightly different classes/groups to potentially free some staff to move furniture, clean areas of the school, and support administration operations.

Semester Reports

Semester reports will be available on Compass in the afternoon of Wednesday 13th of December.

TeamKids

Le Page Primary has a signed a new agreement with Out of School Hours Care provider TeamKids. The new service will be promoted in the school community over the next three weeks in preparation for a smooth start on Tuesday January 30.

Fri Dec 1 – Comprehensive details of service and registration process will be posted on Compass

Mon Dec 4 – Presentation at the Foundation parents’ information session

Wed Dec 13 – Free coffee van at the front entrance and service information

Mon Feb 5 – Staff morning tea

Fri Feb 16 – Welcome picnic and games

Block A Heating and Cooling

In the main building, an electrical upgrade and installation of aircon units in the hall and all classrooms will take place in January. This is to replace the old and now shut down boiler systems. This will ensure the students and staff feel comfortable during extreme temperatures.

Kitchenette Renovation

In January, the kitchenette in the hall will be guttered and a new layout will be constructed. This will improve functionality for Before and After School services and activities, and for school hour events.

Thought for the Week

Life is full of ups and downs. Sometimes circumstances outside your control come and try to knock you off your feet and it can be hard to find a silver lining in anything. Looking out at the world around us, it can be easy to get cynical that anything will change or that we have the power to make an impact. It's hard to fight the glass half-empty mentality when life feels more dark than light, but we learn from the quotes we've gathered from some of our favourite people that finding and maintaining a positive attitude is important to making it through each day and can even lead us to a life that is flourishing.

One way to bring more positivity into your life is making space for friendships and connections with people that are also positive. These relationships can do wonders to highlight the things and people in our lives that we are grateful for. Daily gratitude can bring awareness of the small and also profound things in your life that are a daily gift. Another way to bring more positivity into your life is doing the hard work of becoming at home in yourself and experiencing self-love. Whether through regular self-care, journaling, therapy, exercise, or a combination of all of the above, learning to love ourselves just as we are not only contributes to deeper feelings of inner peace, but also change our mindset about other hard things in our life. You are an incredible person who can do hard things, and while it may not feel like it right now, we can guarantee that going through these quotes will put a little pep in your step and smile on your face.

“If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden.” Frances Hodgson Burnett

“Having a positive attitude isn’t wishy-washy, it’s a concrete and intelligent way to view problems, challenges, and obstacles.” Jeff Moore

“It makes a big difference in your life when you stay positive.” Ellen DeGeneres

“Building a positive attitude begins with having confidence in yourself.” Roger Fritz

“A positive attitude is something everyone can work on, and everyone can learn how to employ it.” Captain Jack Sparrow

“A positive attitude may not solve all our problems but that is the only option we have if we want to get out of problems.” Subodh Gupta

“Positive thinking will let you do everything better than negative thinking.” Zig Ziglar

“The most important thing you’ll ever wear is your attitude.” Jeff Moore

“I don’t think of all the misery but of the beauty that still remains.” Anne Frank

“Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement; nothing can be done without hope.” Helen Keller

“When a happy person comes into the room, it is as if another candle has been lit.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

“You can often change your circumstances by changing your attitude.” Eleanor Roosevelt

“Be positive. Your mind is more powerful than you think. What is down in the well comes up in the bucket. Fill yourself with positive things.” Tony Dungy
