Amazing 5/6

What’s going on?

We are in the middle of the busiest time of the year and all the students are doing a magnificent job completing all the work and assessments that we have asked of them. We have seen some fantastic results in our PAT and Essential Assessment reading and maths testing, everyone is producing great written pieces, and they are also working hard on their final specialist tasks as well. The last couple of weeks have really been a celebration of all of their hard work this year.

We have some huge events coming up and it is really important that we all stay across Compass for all the relevant permission forms and information.

Next Friday, we have our ‘Big Ride Out’ to Mordialloc Pier and the kids have been doing an excellent in Bike Ed under Mr Bradley’s expert instruction. We have been practicing riding around the footpaths and streets of Cheltenham and this group has already been labelled the best group to ever do Bike Ed at Le Page.

The Year 6’s have their graduation ceremony and Big Day Out coming up and have been selling icy poles to raise money for their event. All the relevant information will be coming out in the next couple of days so please check Compass and your child’s bags.

Finally, we have a number of end of year events, such as the Christmas Picnic to end the year, and all of the 5’s and 6’s will be performing songs on the night, so please keep an eye out for dates on Compass and the newsletter.

As always, please contact Sam or Nick if you need anything to support your child or about any of the upcoming events.

 Student Report

Hello, my name is Avin, and I am a leader in Reading, and my name is Amit, and I am a leader in Maths.

In the last two weeks, we have been writing our own stories. We started writing historical fiction about natural disasters by putting two made up characters into an event that really happened. I am writing about a tsunami (Avin). In Book Club, our group is reading “George’s Marvellous Medicine” by Roald Dahl. It is a book about George who makes his own medicine to give to his evil and rude grandma and the crazy magical things that happen. This book is very interesting and has a lot of imagination in it. We both love it.

In Maths, we have been planning our carnival. We learnt about chance and probability and are putting our knowledge into the carnival games we are building.

We are excited about being in this school and the Big Ride Out next week. Thank you for reading and have a great weekend!
