Gardening

On Saturday, 11th November the community came together to revitalise our school’s Indigenous Garden. Working with the paths and beds created through years of play, we added a variety of Indigenous pollinator-loving plants and Indigenous bush tucker plants.

We were lucky enough to be joined by the amazing Hannah Moloney (host of Gardening Australia) who worked alongside us shifting, wheeling, planting and watering. Hannah talked to us about her new book ‘Good Life Growing’ and shared her wealth of gardening knowledge through a workshop on how to garden in clay soil and under gum trees.

At 11am, we paused for Remembrance Day and shared a delicious meal and salad prepared by parents and students. Tailem set the mood with a beautiful and relaxing song played by him on the hand pan.

A massive thank you to all who were involved including the planning committee, food planners, preparers and servers and those who attended. It was such a fun day with an absolutely brilliant end result. We urge you to wander down and check out the beautiful new space!

Watering volunteers needed

As it is going to be a particularly dry spring and summer, we’re kindly asking for volunteers to help keep the garden watered. Most of our garden is on a timed irrigation system, however the drip system doesn’t meet all plants so it needs additional hand watering to meet its needs. Plants can be watered during pick up or drop off on weekdays. Follow this link for more information and to sign up:

During the start of Term 4 our delicious student-run soup sale will continue on cool days. Students will also be selling a variety of seedlings and some produce from the garden at bargain prices. Hope to see you there!
