World Teachers Day

Last Friday was World Teachers Day.  I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank each of the teachers that work in our school.  These people have continued to put student learning and wellbeing front and centre of all that they have done throughout the year.  As principal, I am proud of all staff and their professionalism.

School Student Travel 2024

Applications for bus passes in 2024 are now open.  Depending on where you are travelling, you may receive a free school travel pass.  Students in kindergarten, year 1 and year 2 and student's living more than 2.3km (walking distance) from school can apply for free travel. You only need to apply for a pass if: you are applying for the first time; your child is moving from year 2 into year 3; or requesting additional passes due to parents living separately.  Please ensure your details are up to date at school so approval can be done quickly.

Kindergarten Transition

Yesterday we welcomed our 2024 Kindergarten students and parents to our school.  The students had a great morning and were introduced to their Year 5 buddy.  We look forward to having them back on Tuesday 21st November.

PAX Word of the Fortnight: Weeks 3&4

 EMPATHY

  • Other words to describe empathy are:
  • Compassion
  • Sympathy
  • Pity
  • Concern
  • Consideration
  • Can you spot people showing empathy today?
  • How could you show empathy in the playground?  If someone hurt themselves, what would you say?

Every Day Matters

Martin's Gully attendance dropped last week to 89.7%. The previous week it was 94.5%. The image below shows the percentage of students at school each day. You will note there's a big dip of a Friday! This is something parents need to be aware of. Friday at school is just as important as any other day.

Missing a day here or there may not seem like much, but absences add up and can negatively impact your child’s learning and wellbeing. When your child misses one day a week that’s 40 days of school and 8 weeks of learning in one year. Over an entire school journey this adds up to 2.5 years of lost learning.

Set your child up for success at school.  Good attendance is key to your child being able to fulfil their potential and make good progress in school. #EveryDayMatters

Let's do this together.
