End of Year

Can you believe it? We are at the end of the 2023 school year!

Congratulations to our Year 12 graduates and award winners. It was fantastic seeing you all at the Valedictory Ceremony and we can't wait to hear about your post-school journeys.

Our Year 11s will have their final presentations on Friday, with most students wrapping up their studies for the year.  Some will be returning in Week 7 - ATAR students, Cert III students and those that haven't completed tasks or assessments.  We will be in touch by email if you are needed to complete a Class test or assignment next week.

From all of the Class staff, we wish you a safe and happy holiday period.

Plant and Animal with Ms Jury

The Year 12 ATAR students finally finished their last WACE exam on Thursday last week and can now rest easy until they receive their marks in December. The 11 ATAR students are preparing for their end of year exams along with the general students who are prepping for their end of year tests this week.

The Year 11 ATAR class was lucky enough to attend a three-day camp in week 4 that visited Curtin and Murdoch Universities, as well as several industry businesses. They started the camp on Wednesday by visiting Australian Grain Technologies (AGT) in Northam to extend their knowledge on plant breeding and the processes involved. From AGT, we travelled to Willgrow Farm, who showed the students around their irrigation system and worm farm setup which they use to produce lucerne and wheat under centre pivots. They demonstrated to the students how they value-add to their products by turning some of their lucerne hay into chaff and by milling the wheat into flour, which is subsequently sold onto bakeries and restaurants.

On Thursday, the students visited Curtin and Murdoch where they looked at the accommodation available and discussed the courses and learning opportunities available at each university. On Friday, we visited Linley Valley Pork, and the students were shown around the abattoir allowing them to see the humane and skilful way the pigs are processed. Our last stop on the camp was a visit to Mr Fox’s farm just outside of Northam, where students learnt about the history of the farm and the thought process behind making business decisions.
