Rural educational excellence through innovation, passion and collaboration

Ngala kaadatj nidja Nyoongar Ballardong Boodja

We acknowledge this is Nyoongar Ballardong Country

It is truly hard to believe that this is our final Chatter for the year, with around half of our students finishing up and getting signed off at the end of this week for the year. Next week we will have our ATAR students, Cert III Ag and Pork students and any other students who still have outstanding work to be completed returning.

Year 11 Awards

Friday will be a cause for celebration, with staff, students and families all gathering for the Year 11 Awards and Scholarships Ceremony. It is an opportunity for us all to acknowledge the hard work and achievements of our Year 11s over the course of 2023.

Unfortunately, Madison Corsini and I will not be in attendance at the ceremony due to being in Hobart for the Australian Training Awards national finals, where we hope to take out the title of the 'Australian Small Training Provider of the Year'. Being a national finalist is a phenomenal achievement and something that our College community should celebrate. Wish us luck!

2024

On Tuesday I informed both staff and students that I will be taking 12 months leave for 2024 as part of the 'Deferred Salary Scheme' (DSS).

I am pleased to inform you that Jonathon Arnott will be replacing me as Principal for 2024. Many of you may already know of Jonathon who has been the Principal at Cunderdin DHS for over 3 years. Jonathon is heavily involved within the local community, particularly with football and cricket clubs. I have complete confidence that Jonathon will continue to forge ahead with our College’s continuous improvement journey, and also bring along new strengths to the role of Principal.

There is never an ideal time in schools to take leave, however I feel that our College is positioned incredibly well to have someone of the calibre as Jonathon to take the reins. Additionally, I am looking forward to taking next year off to be hands on with the extension and renovation of our house in Perth.

Wishing you all the very best for the remainder of harvest and for 2024.
