Literacy

Over the coming weeks in Foundation we are focusing on Narratives.  We have sunk our teeth into the Pig the Pug series, looking at the different storylines and characters, including their internal and external traits. We are taking a deeper look into the introductions to stories, and what problem occurs and how this is later solved. We are exploring the use of adjectives (describing words) to help us make our writing more interesting.

We are looking at ensuring students are using their boundary punctuation which involves a capital letter at the start of our sentence, a full stop at the end and finger spacing in between each of our words to help us with reading back our writing.

Numeracy

In Numeracy, we are using a hook at the very start of the lesson to grab students attention. It might be a quick game, or posing a problem in the classroom that students try to solve  before getting into the main focus of the lesson.

We are also continuing to explore money. We are going to be focusing on why we use money and the features of money - things like the colour, shape and any animals / people on these to help us tell them apart from another.

Inquiry

Foundation students are diving headfirst into a world of imagination and creativity during Investigations, taking on the roles of cafe owners, construction workers, and jet-setting travelers at our mini airport. With stick puppets in hand, they're cooking up meals, building interesting structures, and jetting off to far-off destinations. And here's the best part: they're weaving incredible stories and crafting quirky characters using our felt boards to set the stage and add all those magical scene details. It's a whirlwind of imagination during each session, and we couldn't be more thrilled to guide their learning driven by their unique interests and passions.
