Around the Primary Classrooms

Early Learning Centre

On the first day of Term 4, Tuesday 17 October, our Early Learning Centre opened its doors, providing Education and Care to children from 3 Years Old. We have welcomed Michelle into this space as Lead Educator. Michelle, Mandira and I have been working tirelessly together to ensure a smooth transition between both ELC and OSHC every day.

Our ELC students have been establishing new friendships with each other and educators. They have explored their new classroom and contributed to creating the classroom guidelines to ensure everyone feels safe and a sense of belonging. There were some really important points that children wanted to include in the guidelines they shared during their group discussion. This is what they had to say:

  • “Clean up room”
  • “Pack up toys”
  • “Inside voices”
  • “Talking”
  • "We’re hungry”
  • “Wash hands if we got germs”
  • “If you don’t wash your hands you’ll get sick”

We ask that College families and students who do not attend ELC to use alternative entry/exits to the school and please do not access the school ground through the ELC fenced area, from Nelson Road.

Outside School Hours Care - October School Holiday Program

The October Holidays were filled with so many fun activities! We took part in various activities every day from a sewing day to visiting Zoo Doo, safari day at school and a visit to the Gymnastics Centre.

We also made a short visit to Lady Gowrie and had a play with the young children which was such a lovely experience. We did some doughnut cooking from different countries which we enjoyed very much, Barbie day and fairy day gave a wonderful opportunity for our girls to dress up. Finally, the Lenah Valley Rivulet bush walk was a perfect moment for our children to be close with nature.

Kinder

It has been a busy start to Term 4 in the Kinder classroom. We have:

  • walked to the University and on the way we watched Uni students learning how to fly drones,
  • visited the State Library and saw many people reading, learning and studying,
  • also visited the museum to see ancient artifacts, some were 5000 years old.

We loved having our grandparents with us in Kindergarten. Some grandparents had flown from interstate to be with us and we also had one great grandparent.
