And he took the children in his arms,
placed his hands on them and blessed them.
Early years education has a profound impact on a child's cognitive, social, and emotional development. It is during these formative years that a strong foundation is laid, setting the stage for a lifetime of learning. As many of you may be aware, we had planned a refurbishment of the two Sandy Bay Road properties for Kindergarten this year. However, due to significant structural issues, the Capital Works team and Advisory Board with support from Catholic Education Tasmania have decided it is more cost-effective to demolish both properties.
We are proud to announce that our commitment to excellence in early years education is taking a significant step forward with the construction of our new state-of-the-art facilities, commencing with Kindergarten and Prep learning areas. These facilities ae being meticulously designed to create a nurturing, inspiring, and safe environment for our youngest learners as well as a community hub and gathering space for families. The investment in this project reflects our unwavering dedication to providing the best possible start for every child in our care. We have also been successful in procuring a substantial grant to support this new venture and I would like to thank those who contributed to the many aspects of the grant application process.
The new facilities will include spacious and well-equipped classrooms, age-appropriate play areas, and modern learning resources. We believe that these enhancements will empower our educators to deliver an even higher standard of education, fostering creativity, curiosity, and a love for learning in our students. It is our goal to create an environment where every child feels valued and supported, where their individual needs and potential are recognized and nurtured. These new facilities will help us achieve this by ensuring that our early years program is nothing short of exceptional.
As we embark on this exciting journey of growth and development, I want to thank you for your trust and support. Our commitment to providing a strong educational foundation remains unwavering, and these new facilities are a testament to that commitment. Please see below for inspiration from Morrison and Breytenbach, our architects. We look forward to commencing building soon!
Undercroft Fundraiser
Today our Year 10 leaders organised a Free Dress Day, BBQ and Zooper Dooper Fundraiser to raise money to upgrade our Undercroft space. The Year 10 students have worked together to develop a plan that is based on enhancing the wellbeing of students with a light, natural and timber feel throughout the current space.
Enrolments for 2024 and 2025
As the College experiences a time of growth and waitlists, I remind families thinking about enrolment for next year or for 2025, including new Year 7 students, to contact the Office for an enrolment pack. Our fourth stream of Year 7 for next year was recently approved and is almost full as we anticipate a waitlist for most classes next year.
Thank you to all families who have recently been in touch, it has been wonderful to welcome so many lovely new families into our community.
