Year Advisers Reports

Years 8, 10 & 12

Welcome to Term 4 Year 8!

It sounded like everyone had a fantastic break. I loved hearing about all the adventures that were had. Sounded like they were full of holidays and fun times. With the phone ban in full swing, it's exciting seeing so many students engage in conversations during break time, and participating in sport on the oval.

This term is a crazy one with lots of assessment tasks to be completed. Organisation will be key this term to ensure a smooth ride through our final term of Year 8. I would recommend putting any assessment tasks into your phone calendar after school, with reminders of the due date, or write them out on a monthly calendar. If you are feeling stressed and overwhelmed, make sure you speak with your classroom teachers and the best piece pf advice I can give is just make a start.

I hope you all have a fantastic Term 4. I'd like to take this opportunity to remind Year 8 that it is free to be kind and ensure you are looking after one another 🙂

Year 10 have started their last term of Stage 5 with enthusiasm and determination. They have come a long way since starting high school and have developed their academic and personal skills. As they enter their final term of Stage 5, they are eager to showcase what they have learned and accomplished. Many of them are already thinking ahead to their future goals and aspirations, whether it be pursuing further education or entering the workforce. The teachers are proud of their progress and are excited to support them in their final stretch. They hope to see them continue to grow and thrive as they transition into the next stage of their lives.

Congratulations to Ethan Hull and Decla Kartawidjaja who have both been selected to receive the Good Citizenship Award from the Probus Club of West Gosford. This award is given to two students who have shown meritorious conduct both in and out of class, outstanding diligence in performing all schoolwork, and compassion towards others. Ethan and Decla's achievement is a testament to their hard work and dedication, and have shown that they embody the above qualities, and they serve as an inspiration to their peers. Congratulations again to Ethan and Decla for their well-deserved recognition!

CONGRATULATIONS to the best Year 12 group (no bias) for finishing the HSC, with the exams officially ending across the state on Friday 4 November! For many of them, this moment felt like forever away but now it has suddenly happened and Year 12 have started the next chapter of their life stories.

Seeing Year 12 when they came in for your exams was the absolute highlight of my days and I’m not sure how I’ll cope now that it won’t be happening anymore but I’m still so happy that they’ve made it to the end of the most stressful part of their schooling careers.

The final events for the year group are quickly approaching or have happened. Firstly, on Wednesday 8 November, Year 12 officially signed out of school by coming on site to hand back textbooks and have paperwork signed.

Next Wednesday will be the highlight of the social calendar of most students, with the event we’ve all been waiting for finally happening: The Formal! I look forward to reporting on the night in my final newsletter submission.

The last event for Year 12 is to come into school on the day their HSC results are released (Thursday 14 December) to share their ATARS with their teachers and have one final celebration of their achievements.

I hope both Year 12 and their loved ones take time to acknowledge their impressive achievements and celebrate this milestone of completing the HSC! We’re all so incredibly proud of you!!
