Deputy Principal's
Report - Years 8, 10, 12
It has been a fantastic start to Term 4 for students in Years 8, 10 and 12.
The HSC came to an end in Week 4 with all students sitting their exams in the MPC over the past few weeks. Congratulations to all students in Year 12 who completed the HSC, you have all now earned a well-deserved break and we look forward to hearing about your results and seeing where the next steps will take you on your educational or employment journey.
As is tradition at Henry Kendall High School, students in Year 10 will commence their Stage 6 Preparation Program throughout Weeks 7, 8 and 9.
Week 7 (Monday – Thursday) is taster week where students will experience their Year 11 courses with their class teachers and have a brief taste of what it will be like as a senior student. This is valuable for all students as they can ask questions about their chosen courses and clarify anything they are unsure of before they start their Stage 6 Journey. On Friday Week 7, students will get an introduction into the PBL Make a Movie program where they will find out how to set out their movie for Week 8 and 9.
Throughout Week 8 students will have a range of experiences from external providers. The presentations include driver safety (Lemon Car), study skills (Elevate) contraception, birth and development presentation (Core of Life). Year 10 will finish the week with an excursion to Terrigal Beach where they will participate in a range of fun activities led by Mr Mellish.
On Monday 4 December (Week 9) students will undertake their elective option. These include either Clip and Climb/Laser Tag, Kayaking/SUP, Chef for a Day or an external music workshop. Week 9 will also focus on skill building activities including Equip Leadership, RYDA driver safety workshop with the final PBL movies being shown Friday during period 4 and 5.
All students will receive a Stage 6 Preparation Program Booklet in the coming weeks that provides them with all the details that they require for the three-week period.
Payment of $110 for the Stage 6 Preparation Program is due by Friday 10 November. If there are any questions or concerns, please see Mrs Hogan or Mr Wright
We look forward to inviting our new Year 7 students on Tuesday 28 November to Orientation Day in the MPC. Mrs Kostalas (2024 Year 7 - Year Advisor) is excited to welcome all our new Year 7’s to Henry Kendall High School and Orientation Day provides the perfect platform to provide an overview of what life will be like as a Year 7 student at Henry Kendall.
A huge thanks must also go to our Year 9 mentors who have worked with the students in the STAR program. Their guidance and support is greatly appreciated throughout this program and I have no doubt that the new Year 7 students will value their support.
