BLITZ AND MATRIX FOCUS

Children are working hard to follow our Blitz for this fortnight -

There has been slightly less items left in the yard at the end of break times and the end of the day since introducing this Blitz.

We have another week of embedding this into our everyday behaviours - keep up the great work everyone!

During week 3 and 4 students have been practising how to be particularly SAFE, RESPECTFUL and RESPONSIBLE inside.

As the term becomes busier we know that the classroom space is a bustle of activity and everyone needs to show care and courtesy for each other.

Staff will work with students to ensure they have understanding of how they can do their best while inside learning.

During week 5 and 6 our focus will move to using the toilets in a  SAFE, RESPECTFUL and RESPONSIBLE manner.

There have been a number of reports of toilet cubicles being locked with no one inside and toilets not being flushed.

Just like how we are inside our spaces,  everyone needs to show care and courtesy for each other.

Staff will work with students to ensure they have understanding of how they can do their best while inside learning.

** New addition; it is always SAFE, RESPECTFUL and RESPONSIBLE to seek an adult when you need one in any space or time.

3 GOOD THINGS

Last week staff and students in years 3-6 were gifted the opportunity to listen to Dr Michael Carr-Gregg speak.  There were many interesting topics from brain foods to sleep habits.  He spoke about happiness and what makes us happy - one of the key components is gratitude. This year at St Joseph's we have implemented a strategy called WWW...what went well, at the beginning of the day we complete this process after Morning Circles and at the end of the day before leaving - what an affirmation for us as a school, that we are contributing to helping our young people find their 'good things' to build their feeling of happiness.

DOG'S CONNECT

Sully has enjoyed coming to school on Mondays and Thursdays and is getting used to being in the classrooms. Sully is still practising watching the students during learning times (not having the attention on him at all times). In the afternoons he will rest while the students are working.

DUO DAY

Children celebrated with a Duo (or trio or group) Day to celebrate hitting 2500 GOTCHAS for term 3.  There were lots of smiles from all.

ATTENDANCE

You may have received a text message from school asking to clarify if your child is absent. This is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of your child(ren).

If you are travelling for an extended period we ask that you visit Maria in the office or send an email to mariaw@sjrochester.catholic.edu.au with absence dates.

Whilst we understand there will be unavoidable absences, we ask that you make the school aware of these by calling the office on 54841797 or logging the absence on PAM.

** Children who arrive after 9am are to enter via the office and sign in via PassTab to record the time of arrival.

** Parents of children who are being picked up during the school day are asked to enter the office to sign their child out. While children can use the PassTab iPad, we must see and speak to the parent/carer picking the child/children up.
