DR MICHAEL CARR-GREGG
I had the privilege to listen to Dr Michael Carr-Gregg alongside our teachers, parents and students last Monday and Tuesday. His message was the same each time, yet he delivered it in a different way for the various audiences.
In the News from the Classrooms, our Grade 3/4 children have captured his message very well. All students listened attentively and were able to recall much of what he said during the 60 minute presentation.
He spoke about the importance of Diet, Sleep and Exercise and the impact poor routines have on our children. He talked to the children about the importance of having breakfast and he told them that children that have breakfast can complete their work faster and more accurately than those who don't.
Dr Michael Carr-Gregg talked to us about how important it was that children were able to see the good in every day. He encouraged teachers, parents and children to consider the question 'What Went Well today and Why?'. Try asking this question when your children return from school each day.
He spoke about mindfulness and focussing on what we can control rather than the things we can't control. Much of what he said about mindfulness supported the work we are already doing at school.
Real Schools Parent Information Evening - Monday 30th October @ 5.30pm
Come along and meet our facilitator Paul Blinkoff.
Paul will be spending Monday in our school working with teachers in the classroom.
Following a staff meeting, he will tell you all about the partnership we have embarked on. it is so important that we are working together to mould our young people of today and use the same strategies for managing behaviour, encouraging responsibility and improving our chances of success.
This is a parent evening, there will be child minding at school for families that need it.
School Engagement Survey
On the 11th October all families received an invitation to complete a School Engagement Survey.
Your feedback is crucial to helping us plan for 2024 so that we provide educational experiences that will meet the needs of all children at St Joseph's. The survey covers various aspects of our school, including curriculum, communication, and overall engagement.
Your responses will guide us in making improvements and ensuring we meet the needs and expectations of our students, families and community.
At this time 11 out of 66 families have completed the survey. We encourage more families to complete the survey. If you cannot find the email, please let us know and we will resend it.
POLO TOP
All families received an order form for the new polo top. At a recent meeting of the Parents & Friends it was decided to purchase a top for all 2024 students. If you have not returned your form, please do so by Monday 30th October.
SAVE THE DATE: 7th December - END OF YEAR GATHERING
Community Bank Elmore, Lockington and Rochester Sponsorship Program
We have received a grant to fund an external Defib machine. This will be housed on the Campaspe Street side of the Kildare Centre. While it is important to have this machine available to our school community during the day, it is also very important to offer this facility to residents living around our school.
We hope it is never used, but it is there if needed.
