School council plays a key role at Carnegie Primary School and being a member of the school council is a rewarding experience. Acting as a team, council supports the principal and school leadership to provide the best possible educational outcomes for students.
The CPS school council is a representative body, the membership of which is designed to reflect the educational partnership between students, teachers and student’s homes. I take this opportunity to introduce you to our parent school councillors ad we encourage you to speak with us.

Understanding the functional split between school council and the principal is critical for the effective functioning of the council. The school council has a governance role, and the principal manages the school and is responsible for ensuring the delivery of a comprehensive education program to all students.
School council processes are characterised by a mutual sharing of information, knowledge and ideas. Positive working relationships and partnerships within the school community help to make the school council effective and we have a responsibility to inform and consult with the school community on important issues.
School council meetings are open meetings and parents are welcome to attend as observers. Meeting dates are published in the newsletter and we will continue to include news from our meetings.
