Principal message

Dear Students & Families,

Congratulations to our students who received the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist last weekend at the Sacred Heart Cathedral. The Sacraments were celebrated with Bishop Shane McKinlay, Fr Brian Boyle and Fr DJ. Many thanks to the students, their families and staff who all played a very important part in the Sacramental Program and mass on the weekend.

Reconciliation Week & Camp

Thanks and well done to all staff, students and families on your engagement with the various Reconciliation Week activities. A special note to thanks our Leader in Indigenous Education, Ms Carina Johns and our Fire Carriers who designed and led various aspects of the week's activities.

Congratulations to our Grade 5/6 students who enjoyed their camp last week at Camp Jungai. The name Jungai means 'Meeting Place' in the native tongue of the Taungurung Clan who are the traditional owners of the land on which the camp is located. The camp was intentionally booked in Reconciliation Week and the students were able to participate in cultural sessions that were informative and enjoyable to support their learning. Sessions included bush tucker, bush medicine, crafts, cultural heritage and artefacts, storytelling, and a cultural evening. As expected, the students conducted themselves well for the camp duration. Well done! Thanks to the parent helpers who attended the Camp, along with the Grade 5/6 Teaching Team who attended and coordinated the extensive planning and preparation that goes into a camp.

Professional Learning Days

We are pleased to be working with Andrea O'Connor from Catholic Education Sandhurst this Friday (June 7) as we seek to learn more about our student learning data. We will start by exploring whole school information, before breaking down to class and individual student level data so that we can best target individual and class learning needs. We look forward to a great day.

On the final Monday of Term 2 (June 24), we will be working with Colleen Hampson from Catholic Education Sandhurst on our Catholic Identity Day. More information regarding this learning will follow.

For your information and planning, the Whole School Closure Day in Term 3 will take place on Monday, July 29. The staff will be working with Dan Petro. Dan is a behaviour analyst and a director of Behavioural Resources Australia where he utilises his extensive professional history of developing positive behaviour support and intervention programs including providing the implementation training.

We wish everyone a safe long weekend. To those travelling, please travel safely.

In Faith and Community,

Tim Edwards
