Secondary Tribal Cross Country

On Friday 17 May in the afternoon, the Secondary School took part in the Tribal Cross Country. Although it was cold, the rain held off allowing it to be a fantastic afternoon, where we saw students get involved in a myriad of ways. We were encouraged to see students try their best as they completed the course which wrapped around the Primary and Secondary School. A particular highlight was seeing students cheering on and encouraging their peers to complete the race. It was a joy to see everyone display their uniquely God given gifts on this day, whether that be running the whole course or being that encouraging support from the sidelines! Here are the overall tribal results from the day!

1st – Wirri

2nd – Jarra

3rd – Kaja

4th – Mani

In addition to the cross-country race, we also had many other things happening off the track. We had jumping castles set up in the gym allowing for many hours of jumping fun, staff serving a free sausage in bread lunch to all students as well as the student helpers aiding in spraying coloured powder on those who opted to run through! We want to thank all the students and staff for their involvement in the day, your efforts made this a great sporting and community building event for the MECS community.

CSEN VCE Volleyball

MECS had 2 boys volleyball teams competing in Volleyball for the VCE Rally Day. It was a great day down at Dandenong Stadium where we competed against many other schools from CSEN. The division 1 boys narrowly missed out on the semi-finals, having drawn 2 games throughout all their pool matches demonstrating how competitive it was. The division 2 boys, despite only playing with 5 players on court for most of the day, managed to make their way into the semi-finals. They ended up coming 4th, narrowly missing out on the chance to compete in the finals. Both teams played with joy, eagerness and competitiveness throughout the day, a great time out for the volleyball teams!

Primary District Cross Country

This year MECS took 45 students to the District Cross Country event at Lilydale Lake. It was a fantastic day with lots of great competition, support and encouragement. It's a huge opportunity and achievement to represent your school in any competition, so well done to all the runners who came along.

We had 10 students finish in the top 10 in their race which qualifies them to represent MECS at the Yarra Division Cross Country event.

Thanks to all the parents and friends who came out to support the students and all the best to those competing at the Division event.
